How can I reset the code on my Rover 420 key?

I have two keys for my 1996 Rover 420. One works ok but the other does not. I have changed the battery but it still does not work. I have no handbook and do not know how to set the code. Please help if you can

If you know the code then this is what you do; lock the car and hold in the horizontal position for 15 seconds then bring it back to the vertical position. with the first number of your code turn it the opposite way from locking it ie: 5 then turn the key 5 times, but each time bring the key back to the vertical position before turning the key again. Then using the second number turn key the opposite way for that amount of times remembering to bring key back to vertical position each time. When you have used up all numbers on code the car should be open, lock for final time, if you put in wrong code the alarm will give 2 short beep and you have to start again, you only get 2 goes then you have to wait 15 mins to try again. It's long winded, but i hope it helps!!
