zanussi aquacycle 1200?

The drum has stopped turning.
The belt is on and is quite tight.
Sparks from the opposite end of the motor to the belt.
Could this be caused by worn brushes.

yes.remove the brushes from the motor and if they are around 10mm long on the carbon bit then they need replacing
