the battery died. so i replaced it. so now when i start the car it runs but when i step in the brake the car turns off? why?

Disconnect the positive battery cable, put key in ignition, turn to the on position, then reconnect battery cable. It will sound like the alarm is going to go off, but that will stop in a second or two. Tighten down the nuts and restart your car and Voila... It is reset.
