My daughter left downlighter on all day...when we arrived light was out.I changed bulb it still did not work , tried another bulb still no joy I looked at transformer and all wires seemed ok ? Downlighter etc is approx 6 months old..is it a goner???

Try changing the transformer. If that doesn't work try changing the lampholder.
