Veritas R8 Plus?

Hello,

I have a Veritas R8 Plus with 1 LCD control pad. We were woken this morning by the alarm going off, we don't set it when we go to bed so it wasn't armed. I managed to silence it by removing the battery and the fuse. I was unable to set it when I went to work and it now has a red light on zone 1 on the keypad. The keypad keys bleep when pressed but the panel doesn't seem to respond otherwise. The external bell box is flashing as normal, green light from left to right.
Any ideas would be greatfully recieved.
I live in York.

I installed the alarm was only installed this year, surely the battery should last longer???

First thing, get a new battery for the control panel, then get a new battery or outside sounder, the battery inside that is dead also, all shown by the pulling of the fuse/s and non operation of the keypad

Well what you describe is also beyond your limitations as you freely admit.
Get it seen by a professional.
Look for a NSI or SSAIB local company.

Also, the keypad is just that, no LCD screen!!

Just to inform people when I said I removed the fuse, I meant I pulled the fuse out of the fuse spur to silence the alarm at 5.30 in the morning. I am not a do or die diyer, I know what I am doing with most things, I just some know feck all about alarms!!

Helpful answers would be most welcome.

Acorn, my old china. I know exactly what you mean. Its a shame Texecom sell to all and sundry over electrical trade counters ect. You will notice Cooper and Galaxy are steered away from in the DIYer market, thank god!

Its great when as you say "pulling all the fuses" seems to be the first fix these people can think off. Rather than read the display to get a vague idea of the problem.
Then as you say the other problems come to light.

God bless know it all diyers.

Last point they forget we "in the know" answer these questions in our own time. Yet are sometimes frowned on with some of our answers.
How many other trades would shoot themselves in the foot I wonder.

Alarm, you forget these are mostly DiY systems and are installed and expected to work forever with no servicing or battery changes along with no understanding of how they are designed to work.

Don't forget that pulling all the fuses always solves the noise problem, but, it just shows up another, doesn't it?

The Veritas panels are good, cheap DiY panels, if only my first paragraph ...........
