hello richard depends what boiler mate,
some have got an in built filling thing where you stick a key in the bottom.
most have got a flexi pipe and two valves. one either end turn them both on, see what happens????? lol you wont kill it. hey make sure the flexi pipe is connected both ends or your gonna get wet
make sure you fil it cold though or the pressure is a false reading
