how can i repair my ceiling fan lights pull cord?

My ceiling fans light cord no longer clicks when i pull it so i cant turn my lights on in the fan i have no idea about anything to do with a ceiling fan and dont want to call my dad so lateis their a quick fix?

you will have to remove the fan from ceiling.but its very heavy,then you will have to take it apart to replace the switch,as you have not given the make of it,its hard to tell you how to do this,
