hotpoint wmt05 will not drain of water?

when machine is full of water and goes on to drain it will not emply why is this the pump still rotates

hi if you take the pump hose off on the top of the pump is a rubber flap that opens and shuts these are well known to wear and get stuck this stops the pump pumping out just pull it off and throw it away and everything will be ok
