Modern Maid Built-In Toaster KBT100?

I am looking for parts for the Modern Maid build-in toaster KBT100. One side of the toaster will not pop up. The same side front bread slot does not toast the front of the slice. We have taken it to a small repair shop but they say they need parts. So I am looking for someone's old one for parts or a place that may possibly carry parts for the toaster.

We just got what appears to be a new KBT 100 to replace a 30 year old. On line sale.
Looks great, however, it blows the breaker every time we try to toast/ The wiring seems OK? We have moved it to 3 3 outlets and it blows all of them. It is the toaster.

Use a hacksaw blade to slide it into the rail, and push down a wide clip, on both sides of the toaster, it will slide right out.

I have the Modern Maid toaster model #KBT-100 and
want to sell it. We remodeled our kitchen and took it
out. It works fine except that the right side only
toasts the bread on one side. If you are interested
please call me at 408) 266-3276. I posted a previous message in
March but forgot to include contact information. Thanks,

I have a Modern Mald Built In Toaster KBT100 which
I'm willing to sell for parts as we are in the process of
remodeling our kitchen. The only thing wrong with it
is on the right side of the toaster the bread only toasts
on one side.

I just repaired ours and it was not the elements but the upper contacts were too corroded to conduct. I smoothed them down with a breaker points file (remember those) and it works fine.

How do I pull the thermpostat knobs off a modern maid
KBT100 toaster?

I also have this toaster and love it!!! Please let me know if you have found someone that has the parts to it. One side of my toaster does not toast. This toaster is a major conversation piece for all my guests.

Finding the right size Nichrome wire is the trick for repairing this unit. I just replaced the center element with one from a Sunbeam Model 3823. The Sunbeam comes apart easily. Trim the card to match the height and slots of the Modern Maid and leave the wires long. The MM needs some modification. Two holes need to be drilled in the toaster chamber for the wires to get out to the center, wrap additional insulation through the wire holes, then remove the wire spade and slip the new wires over the spade and reattach. Works great and only cost $30 on sale at Penny's! It takes about two hours to work your way through.

Laura, If you ever decide to dismantle your toaster, keep me in mind. I would purchase yours for parts and hopefully come up with one that worked. Janesak@everestkc.net

I have a modern maid built in toaster model KBH-101 and I have the same problem. The one side has the lever stuck in the down position, thus will not pop up or toast. And the other side only toasts one side of the bread where the element is burnt out. Looks like we are in the same boat. I loved this toaster!
