This is/was a known fault. You may still have a pump problem. I bought a new pump and got the same result . It only requires a small resistance on the pump shaft for it not to "kick start" when current is applied. If you look you will see there is free rotational play of the impeller on the shaft which allows the motor to kick start. You may have gungy soap behind the seal of the pump. My fix was to go to a repairer/breaker and buy a second hand pump which was a go'er - the bearings were freer -. You may find slight variations on the mounting piece just swap yours over. Run it up before you fit it. The pump is the first think you hear when you switch the machine on as it scavenges the machine of foul water. Mine has been whizzing along now for around 3 years. I also bought a second hand 'brain' for my daughters Zanussi machine for £25 not at the new price of £150. Best of luck
