will only blow hot air, direction and fan ok should there be a wire behind the heat knob? air con clicks in but cold air not entering interior

The heater control valve has failed very common fault the valve is electronically controlled from the heater control panel there is no mechanical connection, the only mechanical control is for the air diverter flap that sends the air to either the feet or the windscreen
