Why has my base set stopped bleeping when I have a message?

My base set on my Freelance XD 5500 used to bleep when I had a message but has now stopped doing so. Can anyone tell me why?

You have probably inadvertently switched the audio off. Use the Manuel that you got with the machine to instruct you how to turn it back on.
