rover 414 immobiliser fix?

My wife's rover 414 has been parked for 6weeks now and wont start. All efforts to get the immobiliser access code have not yielded results. Can someone tell me how I can bypass the immobiliser?

One way.....1.wind the driver window down and lock all doors. 2.turn key in ignition with all dash lights on. 3.disconnect the negative lead leaving the window down and key in ignition.4.leave for 1 min and then re-connect the negative lead....that should reset the immobilizer (Hopefully) this has worked with my 414. Good Luck All..and hope this helps!

Hi

You can't "bypass" the immobiliser!

However, any Xpart Autoservice Centre (http://www.xpart.com/html_content/specialist.htm) has access to the former Rover database containing all the secret codes relating to each car that was made.

AFAIK, each car has three codes: key-cut, immobiliser and radio code. By presenting your proof of ownership (i.e. V5c registration certificate and Cert of Insurance) a local Xpart centre will be able to provide you with these for £10-£20 fee.

So long as you're willing to live without the security of the immobiliser, you don't need to pay for any work to be done. All you do, is disable the immobiliser by entering the code via the driver's door lock. The immobiliser will remain inactive indefinitely - even if you lock the car with the key - until it is locked again with its own radio-fob.

When entering the code in the door lock, you must first turn AND HOLD to the right for FIVE seconds.

This is before doing the first digit, with the key turned to the left.

My wife's car had the same problem when not used for a week.
I tried entering the immobiliser code by using the key, ie turn key clockwise the nuber of turns equal to the first digit and then turn anticlockwise for the second number etc etc, but this did NOT help.
What eventually worked was by standing close to the car and holding the key fob close to my head ( skull / brains ) pressed the fob button and to our amazement the indicator lights flashed and the door locks functioned. Since then we have used the fob as normal.

unless you are good at soldering and good with electronics no.
you could just buy a new ecu and alarm / immobiliser ecu
from a breakers.
