Fix Fault Cd Drive

I recently purchased a clarion pu-2471a cd radio decoded, i fitted it after removing a clarion pu -2294a coded the cd drive was working but no radio.

The cd player wont play properly(front loader) so I took it apart and it looks like the worm drive for the laser movement is slipping can I tighten it or is it just knackered?

When I try to load a CD into the player it will not accept the disc and only ejects . I have tried the reset bottom but no change. Is this repairable or do I need a replacement unit.
