Knocking noise on stairlift?

Hi, my stannah stair lift is making a knocking noise on the way down but not on the way up, any one help with some ideas please?

i have a sterling 950 and runs fine going down stairs but shows n and hardl?

I have a Sterling 950 Stairlift and has slowed down to a crawl and shows code n. It runs perfect going down and it only happens on going up. Please help!!!!!!
